Skin types and their treatments.

1) Dry Skin: If your skin has a strong tendency toward dehydration, lacks oil, and has few breakouts if any at all, it is considered dry. In more extreme cases, dry skin lacks elasticity ( firm youthful apparance ) and can be extremely sensitive to the sun, wind, and cold temperatures.
Treatment:
Wash your face once a day with a rich, creamy cleanser and lukewarm water. Pat your skin dry. Use toner to help with that tight and flaky feeling of dehydration. Avoid toners and makeup that contain alcohol as alcohol-based products have a drying effect on skin. Use a cream-based lotion to hydrate your skin and keep it rejuvenated. Use one specifically for dry skin. One a week, use a cream based exfoliator to get dead skin cells off your skin. Also a hydrating facial at least once a month will go a long way in restoring moisture to your skin.

2) Oily Skin:
If your skin is oily, it usually has a lot of shine to it very soon after cleansing and the pores are generally slightly enlarged. It is more prone to pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads than other skin types and is coarser in texture and has a sallow and uneven complexion.
Treatment:
Your skin tends to attract more dirt than dry skin, so wash your face twice a day with a gentle foamy cleanser and warm water. Rinse with warm water. Use an alcohol-free, hydrating toner  to help remove additional residue. Oil blotting sheets through out the day can help control shine, and it takes as little as 3 minutes after lunch. Although your skin's oily, you still must moisturize it with a light moisturizer daily, or your skin will become dry underneath and overcompensate by producing more oil. You can use phillips' milk of magnesium as a mattifier before your makeup. This will keep shine away for some hours.  A granule-free exfoliator and charcoal konjac sponge is best for exfoliation.
Please be advised that it is imperative that this skin type does a blemish control or a purifying facial at least once a month, where extractions will be done to help reduce blemishes.

3) Normal Skin: Some consider normal skin to be combination skin, but it is not. If your skin is oily in the "T zone" and your nose while dry and taut on the cheeks, it is considered normal. It's also considered normal if it changes with seasons (dryer in winter, oilier in summer). Normal skins can also be 'Normal-To's' as in normal to oily or normal to dry.
Treatment:
Wash your face with cleansers that are designed for your normal/normal-to skin type. Wipe an alcohol free, hydrating toner all over the face. Apply moisturizer more frequently to dry skin. Exfoliate once in a week with any good exfoliator to resurface your skin. Facial treatment is recommended monthly. Facial analysis has to be done so that the best facial trwatmdnt your skin rwquires is what is offered.

4) Combination Skin: Combination skin is comprised of two extreme skin types on one face. These situations occur when there is acne and a lot of oil in one area when the rest of the skin is generally dry (no oil).
Two common examples are dry skin with papular and pustular acne on the cheeks or a normal skin with inflamed papular and pustular acne in the chin and mouth area.
Treatment:
Tend to each area appropriately as described above. If the acne is severe, consult a dermatologist or esthetician.

5.Sensitive Skin: Please note that you may have sensitive skin and normal, oily, or dry. If your skin has allergic reactions to beauty products and is usually sensitive to the sun, wind, and cold weather, it is sensitive. Sensitivity can show up in rash, redness, inflammation, acne, and dilated capillaries.
Treatment:
Look for cleansers, toners, makeup, and moisturizers that are fragrance-free , paraben -free and hypoallergenic. Cleanse, tone and moisturize with gentle products everyday. The idea for your skin is to always choose products with a soothing benefit. Some common ingredients to look for are: chamomile, azulene, bisabolol, allantoin, lavender, camphor, calamine, rosemary, thyme, aloe vera, coconut oil etc.
Note to all skin types:
The use of sunscreen is very important, no matter what skin type you have.

The Beedazzled Bride.

Is there anything like the Beedazzled Bride?  Of course there is.
The Beedazzled Bride is a beautiful, fearless, daring and courageous woman. She is beautiful in and out, with or without makeup. She knows she is a precious gift, a priceless gem...She is not a Beedazzled bride because she is doesn't feel and look beautiful, quite the opposite, She is a Beedazzled bride because she wants the flawless interpretation of the sophistication and glamor in the image that stirs back at her each time she looks in the mirror.

As a makeup professional makeup artist,  I needed to portray this to the world. I don't make a woman more beautiful, I don't have that ability. However, I am gifted, skilled and well trained in the  interpretation of what each woman's perception of facial beauty is.

In 2011, I met Busayo Oludayo; an ebony beauty with a kind heart. She noticed my makeup a lot and complimented. I never told her I am a makeup artist until a show that was organized in my church - Testimony Chapel International. Makeup was required for the models and I was one of the two makeup artist for the day.
I interpreted Breakthrough Oyeluyi's perception of facial beauty and almost everyone was thrilled- even her parents who are pastors.
Busayo was very impressed and pleased with me and she asked me to apply makeup on her face. At that level * of my growth as a makeup artist* (by the way, I'm still growing o!), I did. She loved it so much and she snapped lots of pictures.
She told all and sundry about my skills as a professional makeup artist. After all the hype, my portfolio was requested for viewing and yeah! You guess right, I had nothing to present.
The last professional makeup shoot I had was in 2008 and I have improved greatly since then. Bubu wasn't happy with me and there are many times she commented about it and spoke to my boo on this same matter.
In April 2013,  I wanted to rebrand BEEDAZZLED and I needed pictures so I decided to do a photoshoot in order to build my portfolio and have beautiful pictures to use in interpreting who a Beedazzled bride really is. I decided to use 2 models  for the traditional bridal shoot because I wanted to portray and interpret the perception of facial beauty in a light skinned woman and a dark skinned woman.
I first thought of Busayo beause she has lovingly been on my case to showcase myself to the world. She has a wonderful dark complexion *lemme share a secret, shhhhhh! Not every 'professional' makeup artist can artistically apply makeup on a very dark skinned woman... remember, it is our secret, shhhhhhhhhhhhh!
When I told her, she was very excited and she promised to make herself available for me and she did ( Jah bless dearie; meanwhile come and receive the massage service I offered to give you nau! ).
My second model- Uche. I chose her because she is very fair skinned, she has a beautiful skin * natural color things*, she is well endowed and has a beautiful smile. She is soon to be Mrs Seun Etomi. I needed her to be in that day already- one of, if not the happiest day of her life yet!
The young women I chose, have absolutely nothing in common as per physical features and I loved the contrast. The second week of April, we headed to Fotolighthouse studio in Ikate Eleguishi and started the making of BEEDAZZLED'S second  and more modern and up- to -date portfolio.
It was alot of work o! I had to get all that I needed. I want to use this opportunity to thank the founder and owner of HADASSAH CRAFT- Miss Toyin Olajiga. She provided her beautiful beaded neckpieces for the models and it added that umph to the whole attire. Thanks alot dear.
I went ahead with interpreting their perception of  facial beauty and the results are below. It wasn't easy but it was fun.
I had immense help from Deji Olatunde, Violet and Demola of Fotolighthouse.  I appreciate all that you have done for me. You all are a blessing to me. Gracias.
I hope you love what you see.
Please leave your comments, suggestions and constructively criticisms. They are all welcome.

Enjoy darlings,
Kisses,

The EneMaya 2013 spring collection.

Shout out to all the lovers and supporters of BEEDAZZLED.  Trust y'all are doing great. I am fabulous. ( toni braxton's spanish guitar and kenny G' ft. Toni braxton's that somebody was you on repeat ).
Ok! To the bizness of the day- the making of Enemaya's spring 2013 collection.  The 11th of July- Wonderful day, clear weather and beautiful people.
My assignment was to create a look of sophisticated glamor ( poetic license darlings *wink*) on our model.

I used mark kay foundation 607 all over her face. Used 507 to highlight underneath her eyes, t-zones, upper lips, brow bone and chin.
I highlighted with two shades lighter than her complexion cos I really wanted to draw attention to her bestest qualities, give her complexion a radiant glow and  give her an instant face lift. Did I achieve all these? I sure did.

For her brows, I used Davis ' s eyebrow pencil in color 018. I  used it in outlining her brows and filling them in. I also used shades and sparkles ' eye brow filler over her already drawn, outlined and filled in brows. I do this cos it sets the brows, absorbing the wax in the pencil;  so the brows look matte.

For her brow bone, I used the lighter gold color in Zaron's eyeshadow palette to set the foundation used in highlighting and to create a subtle but illuminous finish.

I used the zaron palette for her eyes and zaron lipstick in sweet kiss for her lips. Contoured her face with sleek contour kit.... it's a must have. I love it so much, used it to create hollows in her cheeks and the side of her nose to give her a more chiselled look and I  used the sleek 3 in 1 blush palette to add a bit of warmt to her cheeks.

For her lashes, used one of them sacred lashes to add glamor to the whole look.
Finished up by using black opal loose powder in color 4 and ponds face powder. To absorb excess oil and keep her face looking matte longer than usual.

Hope u like the result. Drop your comments darlings... suggestions for improvements,  corrections and compliments are welcome.
To view more pictures from this shoot, go to Bellanaija. (Yep! We made it there).

Enjoy boos,
One love.

Beedazzled's first graduate.

It was a very sad day to say goodbye to her. I just couldn't bring myself to saying the words.
I remeber when my phone rang and enquiries were made for you to enrol into Beedazzled Beauty Academy.  I wasn't sure that you would come but you did.
She suddenly grew on me. A stranger who was just meant to be a student became a friend, a mother and a sister. Even though she came all the way from Calabar, Cross River State to learn under my tutelage,  I learnt alot from her. I was her teacher and her student.
She impacted my life so positively. She became my  parents' s daughter...
I am so honor to have impacted her with knowledge of beauty therapy.
Thank you dear for choosing Beedazzled Beauty Academy above all others.
Eme, all that you do shall prosper.
You are greatly missed.

N/B
Mrs Eme Inyang Bassey is the bestest yet.
